Such a bold statement you may ask, I myself had my reservations before I decided to write this article if this was a true statement, for me and many other fellow Zell skiers and seekers of the perfect balance of on and off-piste, Zell am See could be is the perfect winter resort in the Alps for you.

So indulge in the lengthy ski season in Zell am See-Kaprun and discover some of the best skiing in the Alps with the added bonus of the Views of the shimmering lake and majestic mountains in Austria’s Salzburgerland.

Zell am See Charm

Nestled between the banks of the stunning Lake Zell and the Schmittenhöhe mountain lies the picturesque town of Zell am See. This charming little lakeside town exudes an irresistible charm that can be sensed even before arrival by train, car, or coach. As you catch the first glimpse of the shimmering lake, you’ll immediately know that something special is waiting for you.

With the Ski ALPIN CARD, you can access up to 121 lifts and 408 kilometres of slopes across three different areas: the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See, and Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel in Kaprun. This means you only need one ski pass to enjoy all of these fantastic skiing destinations. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, the Ski ALPIN CARD has something for everyone, with a wide range of slopes catering to all levels of ability. Après-ski

While Zell am See has a relaxed and sophisticated vibe, the atmosphere changes completely at 1995 metres up the Schmittenhöhe mountain at the SchnapsHans-Alm Apres Bar. Zell am See is home to 40 inviting ski huts and mountain inns, providing the perfect pit stop after a long day on the pistes. Evening Entertainment

Zell am See has plenty of great places to grab a drink after dinner. I highly recommend Crazy Daisy’s – I always have a great time there! They have various delicious cocktails, wines, and Austrian beers. If you’re feeling hungry later on, their small but tasty menu is sure to hit the spot. The bar features live acoustic music most nights, showcasing local talent as well as international artists, creating a vibrant and diverse entertainment scene. Whether you’re looking for a night of dancing or simply to relax and enjoy some great music, Crazy Daisy’s has got you covered. The bar also boasts a friendly and attentive staff, who will ensure that your visit is perfect. So, why not grab a drink, sit back, and enjoy the sounds of great live music at Villa Crazy Daisy’s.

Getting to Zell am See

There are various options available. If you prefer driving, the journey time from the UK is approximately 13 hours, including the channel crossing. Alternatively, you can hire a car from Salzburg airport. Another option is to take a plane to Salzburg airport, which is the closest at 80 km. Innsbruck airport is another option at 148km, followed by Munich airport at 230 km. If you prefer taking the train, the train station is located directly in the town centre of Zell am See and can be accessed easily from Salzburg.

This is the easy part to write as I have now made Zell am See my “go to” Austrian ski resort, I guess I have now found just the right balance between the friendly picturesque town to the ski sure slopes above, It is so easy to fall in love with Zell am See, but don’t take my word for it, find out for yourself.
